The EcoTrio was designed to be eye-catching, to demonstrate the potential for reuse and recycling of materials and to reinforce a City's waste collection programs by encouraging users to separate their materials. The elliptical shape of the receptacle is unique but simple. The EcoTrio can contain up to a maximum of three material compartments. These compartments are spread out along the length of the ellipse for easy access. The receptacle has a circular opening for containers and a rectangular slot for papers. These openings invite users to recycle. The waste section of the container has a lid that is opened by an attractive elliptical foot pedal. The extra second it takes for users to access the waste section of the container will give them a chance to think if the material they are throwing out could be recycled instead. The lid to the waste section keeps odors inside and pests outside while the foot pedal allows the user to access the trash section without touching anything. The EcoTrio is made of three kinds of metal: aluminum, steel and copper. The steel and aluminum were used to demonstrate to users the potential for recycling some of the materials that they will be throwing into the receptacle.

"The Street" with or without lid
Three compartments are used in EcoTrio’s “The Street” (trash, paper and containers) with the paper compartment serving as a divider between the container and the trash compartments. The Street was designed to accommodate malls, schools, universities and city sidewalks. This is EcoTrio’s original.

Millennium"
Two compartments are used in EcoTrio’s “The Millennium”

and containers compartment combined. "The Millennium" was designed
to accommodate malls, schools, universities and city sidewalks. This version

"The
Office"
EcoTrio’s “The Office” utilizes two compartments to dispose
of paper and trash. "The Office" was designed to fit under a desk
in the home or office environment. The foot pedal allows an individual,
while sitting, to easily throw away the trash while storing recyclable paper.

Kitchen" - Mini and Grande
EcoTrio's "Kitchen Grande", which is made of recycled plastic,
combines compartments for trash and recyclables with a height of 25"
for easy and convenient disposal. The lid on the trash section of the receptacle,
which is easily opened with an attractive foot pedal, keeps odors inside
and trash out of site. The"'Kitchen Grande"' provides an attractive
and environmental solution for storing trash and recyclables in the kitchen.
The "Kitchen Mini" boasts the same unique shapes as the Grande,
but is
sized to fit perfectly under the sink."
